The key term in public transportation is public. The T will never be a revenue source and therefore it’s up to legislators to defend it. The debt that was put on the MBTA due to the costs of the “Big Dig” is crippling its ability to provide necessary services and certainly its ability to innovate or expand. This is why we not only do we have to look at new revenue sources, but we must also consider what is already on the books and how we can best leverage all options for improving this critical service.

This is why I pledge to:

  • Fund and complete the North-South Rail Link.
  • Invest in and expand the commuter rail.
  • Institute smart traffic zoning including smart bike lanes and Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) lanes.
